Cashews!! The luscious, delicious golden fruit that grows abundantly along the Konkan coast of India is the pride of Mangalore and it’s surrounding places. While the fruit has medicinal properties it is popularly known for the liquor it helps produce. Cashew fenny anyone? The nut is roasted and sold separately too and finds its uses in the preparation of various sweets, desserts and as garnish for pulaos. I got to eat the cashew fruit maybe after 3 decades. Mushrooms are high in nutrition as they have low sodium, zero cholesterol and are high in fibre and protein.
