We are a biryani loving family. We love it so much that we make it at least a couple of times every month. We also usually cook it together. While the hubby makes the gravy and ‘hands it over’ to me, I make the rice (more like a pulao, using he gravy) and then layer and garnish it. The son enjoys them while the daughter is just warming up to flavoured rice varieties. She usually prefers plain rice.

Lunch was a simple affair today. Once a week I like to prepare a pure vegetarian meal. Infact today’s lunch would have been vegan if I hadn’t used a little ghee to season the dal 😬 BTW, I love cooking with healthier oils/fats these days, especially mustard oil. So here’s presenting aloo methi cooked in cold pressed mustard oil. Along with it is the mixed dal which I call Dal No 1 cuz its just so tasty, again, cooked in mustard oil but seasoned with ghee and chapathis minus oil or ghee

When life gives you lemons there are tons of things you can do with them, but when it gives you over ripe bananas the only thing you should do is bake some yummy banana muffins that are healthier because you replace refined flour with whole wheat, butter with coconut oil and throw in some yogurt for good measure! Add some chocolate chips and you can win the hearts of your little ones!

Psst!Thanks to the cocoa and choco chips that masked the strong aroma of bananas, the little ones gladly ate them without a fuss. If you are a crazy mom who likes to sneak in fruits & veggies into baked goodies for her kids then you know what I'm talking about.

Traditional, freshly made basil pesto is a wonderfully aromatic condiment that flavours and acts as a base in a variety of dishes - from pasta, rice, soups, salads & marinades. Homemade pesto is cheaper to make and tastes so much better! I always make my own pesto, especially during the winter season when we get fresh and aromatic basil at the Farmers' Market here in Dubai.

Hara bhara lunch! Sunday lunch is filled with greenery. 😀 Chicken green curry is my daughter’s most favourite dish (I used to be like her when I was little) and she arm twists daddy into making it for her every now and then. He sneaks in greens such as palak and methi on most days. I made the amaranth greens with garlic yet again. Have shared the recipe for this recently.
